Apocalyptica est un groupe finlandais de metal classique (à ne pas confondre avec le metal symphonique, mélange de claviers et de chant classique sur du métal) créé en 1993 par Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Max Lilja et Antero Manninen (remplacé par Perttu Kivilaakso après son départ en 1999), tous issus de l’Académie Sibelius d’Helsinki. La particularité de ce groupe est d’être principalement composé de violoncelles.

Le leader et compositeur du groupe est Eicca Toppinen.

Apocalyptica s’est fait connaître en 1996 en reprenant les morceaux de Metallica au violoncelle et en assurant la première partie de ces derniers lors de leur tournée en Finlande.

Le groupe s’est illustré plus récemment avec les Allemands de Rammstein en assurant la première partie de la tournée « Reise, Reise » en 2005. Les Finlandais ne se sont pas contentés de la première partie et ont joué à leur côté durant les rappels.

Apocalyptica on helsinkiläinen metallimusiikkiyhtye, joka tuli tunnetuksi soittamalla Metallican kappaleita selloilla. Jo toisella albumilla oli kuitenkin myös yhtyeen omia kappaleita ja siitä eteenpäin cover-kappaleiden osuus on vähentynyt. Yhtyeen musiikkia on kutsuttu muun muassa nimillä sinfoninen metalli, neoklassinen metalli tai progressiivinen metalli. Yhtyeen albumeita on myyty maailmalaajuisesti liki 2 miljoonaa kappaletta ja se on keikkaillut Euroopan suurimmilla festivaaleilla.

Kolmannella Cult-levyllä mukana oli muutamissa kappaleissa rummut. Samalta albumilta otettu Path julkaistiin singlenä Sandra Nasicin (Guano Apes) laulamana. Tämän jälkeen myös Hope (laulu: Matthias Sayer), Faraway (Linda Sundblad, Lambretta) sekä Seeman (Nina Hagen) on levytetty laulettuna.

Apocalyptican uusin albumi Worlds Collide ilmestyi 14. syyskuuta 2007. Albumilla vieraili useita solisteja: Rammstein-yhtyeen laulaja Till Lindemann laulaa David Bowien kappaleen “Heroes” saksankielisen version nimeltä “Helden”, Slipknot-yhtyeen laulaja Corey Taylor esittää kappaleen “I’m not Jesus” ja Lacuna Coilin Cristina Scabbia kappaleen “S.O.S (Anything But Love)”.

Apocalyptica on myös tehnyt intron Bullet For My Valentinen albumiin The Poison.

Apocalyptica on tehnyt cover-versioita seuraavien yhtyeiden kappaleista: Metallica, Pantera, Rammstein, Sepultura, Slayer, Faith No More ja David Bowie. Lisäksi he ovat levyttäneet Edvard Griegin klassisen sävellyksen Vuorenhaltijan salissa (englanninkielisellä nimellä Hall of the Mountain King).

Apocalyptica is a Finnish Cello metal trio (formerly a quartet), composed of classically trained cellists and, since 2005, a drummer. All three cellists are graduates of the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland.

Apocalyptica was formed in 1993^[1] when four cellists, Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen, Max Lilja, and Antero Manninen gathered to play Metallica covers at the Teatro Heavy Metal Club. Among the audience was Kari Hynninen, who worked for the independent label Zen Garden Records. After listening to Apocalyptica’s set, Kari Hynninen signed them on the spot to Zen Garden Records.

In 1996, Apocalyptica released their debut studio album, Plays Metallica by Four Cellos, which consisted solely of Metallica covers played on cellos. In 1998, Apocalyptica released their second studio album, Inquisition Symphony, which was produced by Hiili Hiilesma. Inquisition Symphony once again contained covers of Metallica, but also contained covers of Faith No More, Sepultura, and Pantera. For this album the band also decided to include three original songs written by Eicca Toppinen.

In 1999, Antero Manninen left the group, and was replaced by Perttu Kivilaakso. In 2000, Apocalyptica released their third studio album, Cult, which now featured 10 original songs, and only 3 covers. In 2002, Max Lilja left the group and joined Hevein, leaving Apocalyptica with only three members.

In 2003, Apocalyptica released their fourth studio album, Reflections, which consisted for the first time of all original songs. Reflections featured a more experimental sound, instead of the previous acoustic style arrangements found on Inquisition Symphony and Cult. Dave Lombardo from Slayer played drums on five songs from Reflections.

In 2005, Apocalyptica released their fifth studio album, Apocalyptica, which featured Mikko Sirén on drums, who would be, as of December that year, introduced as an official bandmember. This album featured a number of guest musicians including Ville Valo of HIM, Lauri Ylönen, and once again Dave Lombardo. They also recorded the Intro for Bullet For My Valentines album The Poison

Apocalyptica released their sixth studio album, Worlds Collide, on September 17, 2007. Till Lindemann of Rammstein is among the guest singers. He will be taking on David Bowie’s song “Heroes”, which was also released in German as “Helden”. Till will be singing the German version, making his song the only German-language song on Worlds Collide and the second in the band’s history.

Tokio Hotel est un groupe de pop rock fondé à Magdeburg en 2001 par quatre jeunes Allemands.

Le groupe Tokio Hotel est constitué de 4 jeunes Allemands : les jumeaux Bill et Tom Kaulitz, Georg Listing et Gustav Schäfer.

• Bill Kaulitz (né le 1^er septembre 1989 à Leipzig) est le chanteur du groupe. Déjà attiré par la musique, il commence à composer des chansons vers l’âge de 6 ans. Sept ans plus tard, il participe à StarSearch (version allemande de La nouvelle Star) dans lequel il finit en finale, où il perd. Récemment il a doublé la voix allemande de Arthur, dans « Arthur und die Minimoys » (« Arthur et les Minimoys » en francais) de Luc Besson en compagnie de Nena.

• Tom Kaulitz est le frère jumeau de Bill. Il occupe la place de guitariste dans le groupe et compose quelques morceaux de musique de Tokio Hotel avec son frère Bill, qui est le compositeur et leader du groupe. Sa passion pour la guitare lui a été transmise par son beau-père, lui-même guitariste (il possède actuellement plus de 14 guitares).

• Gustav Schäfer (né le 8 septembre 1988 à Magdeburg) est le batteur du groupe. Il est attiré par la musique très jeune par son père, fan de Eric Clapton et Genesis, et a commencé à apprendre la batterie à l’âge de 5 ans en conservatoire de musique.

• Georg Listing (né le 31 mars 1987 à Halle), le bassiste, est le plus âgé des quatre. Il a commencé à apprendre la basse à l’âge de 12 ans dans le même conservatoire de musique que Gustav qu’il rencontrera quelques années plus tard.

En 2001, Bill et Tom rencontrent Gustav, lors d’un concert à Magdebourg. Celui-ci leur présente à son tour Georg, qu’il connaissait du conservatoire que tout deux fréquentaient. Ensemble ils fondent Devilish (« Démoniaque » en français) qui deviendra plus tard Tokio Hotel. Six mois après, Tokio Hotel joue dans de nombreux clubs de Magdebourg et des alentours.En 2004, Tokio Hotel commence à travailler avec une équipe de producteurs et paroliers de Hambourg qui les a remarqués lors d’un de leur concert : Peter Hoffmann, Pat Benzner, Dave Roth, et David Jost, qui contribueront à rendre leur approche plus professionnelle. Hoffmann, Benzner, Roth et Jost ont composé, produit, et remixé de nombreux artistes : Falco, The Corrs, Sarah Brightman, Faith Hill, The Doors^{[réf. nécessaire]}… Hoffmann leur fait passer plusieurs essais devant différentes maisons de disque et c’est finalement Sony BMG qui décide de signer avec le jeune groupe.

En 2005, Tokio Hotel obtient un contrat avec Universal Music.

Tokio Hotel on saksalainen pop rock -yhtye, joka on perustettu Magdeburgissa, Saksassa. Kaksoset Bill Kaulitz (s. 1. syyskuuta 1989) ja Tom Kaulitz (syntynyt 10 minuuttia ennen veljeään) ovat esiintyneet yhdeksänvuotiaista asti. Esiinnyttyään kotikaupungissaan Magdeburgissa vuonna 2001 he tapasivat Gustav Schäferin (s. 8. syyskuuta 1988) ja Georg Listingin (s. 31. maaliskuuta 1987). Kiinnostus samanlaiseen musiikkiin johti Devilish-yhtyeen perustamiseen. Vuonna 2003 yhtyeeseen otti yhteyttä musiikkituottaja Peter Hoffmann, ja pian he allekirjoittivat levytyssopimuksen Universal Musicin kanssa Hampurissa. Silloin he muuttivat nimensä Devilishistä Tokio Hoteliksi. Ensimmäinen single Durch den Monsun oli Saksassa menestys, mutta vasta Schrei nousi muidenkin maiden listaykköseksi. Suurimman osan kappaleista Schrei-albumille Bill kirjoitti ammattilaisten avulla. Kukaan yhtyeen jäsenistä ei kuitenkaan osaa lukea nuotteja,^lähde? vaan kirjoittavat kappaleista paperille vain sanoitukset.

Tokio Hotel tunnetaan lähinnä saksankielisissä maissa, mutta nyttemmin se on esiintynyt kauempanakin. Yhtye on suosittu Saksassa, Itävallassa, Ranskassa, Venäjällä ja nyt myös Suomessa

Albumi Zimmer 483 julkaistiin 23. helmikuuta 2007.

Yhtye sai Saksan arvostetuimman palkinnon Echon vuonna 2006 parhaana kansainvälisenä tulokkaana ja oli samaisena vuonna ehdolla viidessä eri luokassa. Parhaan videon Echo-palkinnon yhtye sai 2007.

Suomessa yhtye esiintyi 12.9.07 Elämä Lapselle -konsertissa ja soitti Übers Ende der Welt-kappaleen.

Tokio Hotel is a German pop rock band. The quartet has scored four number one singles, two number one albums and claim to have sold over 3 million CDs and DVDs in their homeland.Whilst achieving much chart success in Germany and Austria and some chart success in France, Italy, and in Switzerland they are yet to occupy high chart positions within the English speaking world despite releasing English language versions of their albums.

Originally formed in 2001 under the name Devilish, the band began playing in talent shows and small concerts. After Bill Kaulitz’s participation in a children’s Star Search in 2003 (which he lost in the quarter-final), he was discovered by music producer Peter Hoffmann. Devilish changed their name to Tokio Hotel (“Tokio”, the German language spelling of the city Tokyo, Japan, which they love, and “Hotel”, due to their constant touring and sleeping in hotels), and Sony BMG took them under contract. Hoffmann hired David Jost and Pat Benzner into the team of creators and authors, and had them give the children instruction on songwriting and instrument playing. However, shortly before publication of the first album, Sony terminated their contract. In 2005, Universal Music Group took Tokio Hotel under contract and developed a marketing plan.
